Position Overview:
We are seeking a Lead Teacher for our Birchwood STEAM and Career Academy. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, self-directed educator to take full ownership of a unique learning environment. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for all aspects of instruction, student support, and program development, in collaboration with district administration.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the teacher responsible for instruction across core subject areas and STEAM-based curriculum.

Design and implement personalized, project-based, and interdisciplinary learning experiences aligned with career and technical education goals.

Act as the academic advisor, instructional leader, and program coordinator for all students in the academy.

Collaborate with local businesses, colleges, and community partners to provide students with real-world learning opportunities.

Monitor student progress, manage assessment and reporting, and ensure compliance with charter goals and state standards.

Foster a flexible, innovative, and inclusive learning environment that supports all students’ academic and career aspirations.

Maintain regular communication with families, district personnel, and governing board representatives.
Qualifications:
-
Valid Wisconsin teaching license required.

At least 3 years of teaching experience with demonstrated success in self-directed or alternative learning environments preferred.

Strong knowledge of STEAM disciplines, personalized learning, and project-based education.

Highly organized and capable of managing all instructional and operational aspects of a small charter program.

Excellent communication, adaptability, and a growth mindset.

Commitment to equity, innovation, and nontraditional pathways to student success.
Preferred Experience:

Career and technical education (CTE), charter school, or small-school setting.

Designing curriculum and assessments independently.

Community engagement and partnership building.
